About this Recording
About this Recording
The Cahuilla bird songs of the Palm Springs area tell an oral history of events and experiences that were encountered by our people during their migration in search of a new home many years ago. These songs along with customs and traditions have been passed down orally since the creation. “Pai nik tem” is our clan name meaning “Early morning people” or “People of the Dawn.”

This recording was made in Andreas Canyon, our clan home, where the cover photo was taken. A nearby stream can be heard in the background between songs. We are very pleased to be able to record these beautiful songs of our forefathers, and hope you will enjoy hearing them.
