Indian House Music

Founded in 1966 by Tony Isaacs and Ida Lujan, Indian House Music is a recording studio which specializes in recordings of traditional and powwow Native American music. Indian House Music is based in Taos, New Mexico in the foothills of the picturesque Rocky Mountains and in the ancestral lands of the Tewa speaking Taos Pueblo People. We have a proud history of over 57 years of recording and a reputation as a label committed to respectful, selective, high-quality recordings of traditional American Indian music.

Tony Isaacs & Ida Lujan Issacs: The love story that created a Music Label

A rich history

The indigenous-based American Indian music found on Indian House and American Indian Soundchiefs recordings is entirely different from the European-based Native American music popularly heard today. Exceptional performances combined with informative liner notes are the hallmarks of Indian House recordings. Our exclusive catalog offers over 150 titles recorded on location in the U.S. and Canada, both “live” and in special sessions. Indian House recordings have been a favorite among First Nations music fans for two generations and we are thrilled to now offer our entire catalog with digital downloads. This enables our listeners to download directly to their device for ease of listening, transport and enjoyment.
